Learning within a working barbershop connects technical practice with client care, professional standards and the everyday demands of the industry.

We offer two distinct routes: regulated qualification programmes delivered through Achievement Training & Skills Ltd (ATS) and private, self-funded skills training delivered directly by LTZ Training Academy.

Level 2 Barbering Qualifications — Delivered Through ATS

A Level 2 barbering qualification provides a foundation for developing the skills needed to work in the industry.

These self-funded qualification programmes are delivered and assessed through ATS, the responsible training provider. LTZ provides the commercial barbershop environment, practical industry coaching and opportunities to develop experience with real clients.

Depending on the qualification selected, learning may include:

• Client consultation and hair analysis.

• Men’s haircutting and clipper techniques.

• Shampooing, styling and finishing.

• Health, safety and hygiene.

• Client care and professional working practices.

ATS will confirm the exact qualification title, awarding organisation, entry requirements, assessment arrangements and expected duration before enrolment.

This self-funded route is separate from an apprenticeship.

Level 3 Barbering Qualifications — Delivered Through ATS

For barbers ready to develop more advanced skills, Level 3 study can support technical development and professional progression.

ATS is responsible for qualification delivery, assessment and quality assurance, with LTZ providing the practical setting and industry support.

Depending on the chosen qualification, areas of study may include:

• Advanced cutting and barbering techniques.

• Creative styling and finishing.

• Detailed consultation and service planning.

• More complex client requirements.

• Professional and commercial working practices.

The appropriate programme and duration will depend on your existing skills, prior learning and the qualification requirements. These details will be confirmed through ATS’s initial assessment.

12-Week Foundation Barber Course — Delivered by LTZ

Our private, self-funded foundation course provides structured practical training for people beginning to explore barbering or developing an initial set of skills.

The course may suit career changers, existing hair professionals and those who want an introduction to barbering before considering further study.

Training combines demonstrations, supervised practice and individual feedback within a professional barbershop environment.

This course leads to an LTZ Certificate of Completion. It is not a regulated Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and is separate from an apprenticeship.

The certificate records completion of the LTZ course. Further training and experience may be needed before you are ready to work independently.

Course content, fees, attendance requirements and available dates will be confirmed before booking.

One-to-One Beard and Traditional Shaving Training — Delivered by LTZ

For barbers developing specific services, LTZ offers private, self-funded coaching tailored to their experience and learning goals.

Sessions can focus on:

• Beard shaping and sculpting.

• Traditional hot towel shaving.

• Razor handling and shaving techniques.

• Facial-hair consultation.

• Skin preparation, hygiene and aftercare.

• Developing a consistent grooming service.

These sessions provide focused demonstrations, practical coaching and feedback. They are skills-development sessions, separate from ATS qualification programmes. Any certificate of completion will be explained before booking.

Learning in a Working Barbershop

Training at LTZ connects learning with the environment in which barbering skills are used.

Alongside technical practice, learners can develop their consultation skills, understand appointment management and observe how experienced barbers build client relationships.

We offer training opportunities across Chesterfield and Sheffield, with the location, facilities and availability of each programme confirmed when you enquire.
