When I first entered barbering, I thought success was measured by becoming a better barber.
Like many people starting out in the industry, I focused on developing my technical skills, building confidence behind the chair and delivering the best possible service to every client. While those things remain important, I have learned that long-term success is about far more than what happens during a haircut.
Today, as Chief Operating Officer of LTZ Group, my focus extends beyond barbering. It is about developing people, creating opportunities, improving systems and helping build an organisation where individuals can continue growing throughout their careers.
My own journey reflects that belief.
I joined the business as an apprentice, learning the trade from the ground up. Over time, I progressed through different roles, gaining experience not only in barbering but also in leadership, operations and business development. Every stage of that journey taught me something valuable about responsibility, accountability and the importance of continuous learning.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that businesses do not grow because of one talented individual. They grow because teams share common standards, common values and a shared commitment to improvement.
At LTZ Group, we believe that people should never be defined by where they start. Talent can be developed. Confidence can be built. Skills can be taught. Given the right environment, support and opportunities, people can achieve far more than they often believe possible.
That philosophy shapes everything we do.
Whether someone joins us as an apprentice, an experienced barber, a trainer or a member of the leadership team, our goal is to help them continue progressing. We want people to develop not only their professional skills but also their confidence, leadership capabilities and long-term career ambitions.
I still believe strongly in leading from the front. You will regularly find me working alongside our teams, supporting operations and staying connected to the day-to-day realities of the business. Understanding the experiences of both our clients and our colleagues remains essential to making good decisions.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is seeing people develop. Watching someone progress from uncertainty to confidence, from apprentice to professional, or from team member to leader is a reminder of why we do what we do.
The barbering industry continues to evolve, and so do the opportunities available within it. The future belongs to businesses that invest in people, embrace learning and create clear pathways for progression.
That is the future we are building at LTZ Group.
For me, success is no longer measured by the number of haircuts completed or the skills I have personally developed. Success is measured by the opportunities we create, the people we help develop and the positive impact we leave behind.
